Lakshmi Devi Subramanian

Bio
Lakshmi D. Subramanian received her Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA in August 2022. During her Ph.D. program, she was part of an interdisciplinary research group called Hank Virtual Environments Laboratory consisting of collaboration by the computer science and psychology department in University of Iowa. She was mentored by Dr. Joseph K. Kearney, Professor in Computer Science and co-mentored by Dr. Jodie M. Plumert, Professor in Psychological and Brain Sciences in University of Iowa. She received Best Student Award in her bachelor program and two competitive fellowships in her doctoral program. She has four peer-reviewed publications in journals and conferences in pedestrian and bicyclist safety research. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Kean University, Union, NJ starting Fall 2022. Her research focuses on understanding the behavior of vulnerable road users towards the latest vehicle automation technologies using 3D virtual reality. She plans to leverage the application of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies to understand human perception and behavior in a wide spectrum.
