Bio

Dr. Michelle Liu's research primarily explores the intricate relationships between emerging technologies and human decision-making. Her work is centered on three key areas: the interaction and co-evolution of technologies like telehealth with users, impacting organizational security and privacy decisions; investigating the broader implications of AI-based systems in terms of impact, governance, ethics, and accountability; and innovating in STEM education to foster diversity and enhance workforce readiness. In her first area of focus, she analyzes how new technologies integrate with user environments and the resulting influences on privacy and security policies. Her second area of research delves into AI systems, seeking to contribute to their responsible development and application in society. This part of her work aims to inform policy and understanding in the AI field. The third aspect of her research involves developing strategies to improve STEM education. Dr. Liu is actively involved in creating educational practices and curricula that are inclusive and responsive to the evolving demands of STEM fields.
