The CAHSI Data Management (DM) team uses the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) database by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) to provide key stakeholders with helpful information that will contribute to their continuous programmatic improvement to increase the number of Hispanics who earn credentials and advance in the computing workforce or academia.
Computing programs have been identified by faculty representatives and the relevant person(s) at each institution. To identify computing fields at each institution, 6-digit CIP codes that the team gathers from partner institutions are used. The reporting period of the completions is during the 12 months beginning July 1 of the previous calendar year and ending June 30 of the current calendar year; for example, for the academic year of 2018 – 2019, the data covers all awards granted between July 1, 2018, and June 20, 2019. The completions data includes a Nonresident alien who is not a citizen or national of the United States and is in this country on a visa or a temporary basis.
