Christian Servin

Position: Professor of Computer Science, El Paso Community College

Bio

Dr. Christian Servin is a member of several professional associations, including the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Currently, he is the chair of the IEEE El Paso Region V. He serves as vice chair for the ACM Standing Committee for Computing Education in Community Colleges (CCECC), where he develops and updates curricular guidelines in computing for Two-Year Colleges. He is a member and current treasurer for the North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society (NAFIPS). This scientific association publishes novelist research in fuzzy logic and uncertainty computation techniques. He is a Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board member representing Two-Year Colleges. He recently was appointed as a member of the Editorial Board for the National Cyberwatch Center, where he chairs the Scripting Fundamentals Course Curriculum Standards Panel (CSP). He is Associate Professor in Computer Science, and he has served in the college for 11 years, where he teaches computing courses, develops best practices in computing education, and establishes academic and research partnerships with ISDs and four-year colleges. He has served on various standing committees, including the Faculty Association and Senate, where he currently serves his second term as the full-time senator for the Valle Verde campus. Moreover, Servin has a list of more than 47 publications in academic journals and the proceedings of peer-refereed conferences, including a Springer book and five Springer book chapters.
