Bio

Dr. Mehdi Sookhak is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC), where he leads the Cybersecurity Research and Innovation Laboratory (CSRIL) and Cybersecurity Center for Advanced Research and Education (CYBER-CAR). He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Malaya (U.M.), Malaysia in 2015 where contributed as a research assistant at the Center for Mobile Cloud Computing Research (C4MCCR). Following this, from 2015 to 2017, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University, Canada. Before joining TAMU-CC, Dr. Sookhak was an assistant professor in Arizona State University between 2017 and 2019 and as an assistant professor in Illinois State University between 2019 and 20121. His research expertise spans multiple areas, including vehicular networks, Wireless sensors and actuators, mobile communication, cloud and edge computing, blockchain technology, and computer security. He boasts an impressive publication record, with over 70 articles to his credit in renowned journals and conferences such as IEEE Globecom, IEEE TPDS, IEEE TVT, IEEE CST, IEEE System, ACM Communication, ACM TOSN, and IEEE Communication. Furthermore, Dr. Sookhak contributes significantly to the academic community through his editorial roles on the boards of several ISI-indexed journals, including Vehicular Communications, IEE CEM, IEEE Access, and Electronics. He has also taken on leadership roles by chairing conferences like IEEE WTS and IEEE ICC. Moreover, Dr. Sookhak's dedication to research is evident through his role as the principal investigator for numerous funded projects supported by esteemed institutions such as NSF, NIH, NIFA, and DOT. He holds the distinction of being a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
