Position: Research Associate Professor, University of Illinois Chicago
Dr. Rigel Gjomemo is a Research Associate Professor at the Computer Science Department at UIC and Research Scientist at the Discovery Partners Institute, University of Illinois. His research interests span cybersecurity including intrusion detection, prevention, and response, vulnerability research, mobile applications security, and cybersecurity education. As part of his research, he has published papers in top security conferences and is a recipient of several best paper awards. Currently, he is trying to understand how to create some order out of the chaos present in the way knowledge about cyberattacks is acquired, stored, and communicated. During his career, he has mentored over 60 students ranging from middle school to PhD. He believes that mentoring and teaching to the next generation of computer scientists and STEM professionals is one of the most gratifying activities of his job.
